🌍 Join a PhD Project on Democracy and Disinformation at the University of Antwerp
Are you passionate about politics, democracy, and how disinformation shapes public debate? The Department of Political Science at the University of Antwerp is hiring two full-time PhD researchers to join DEMO-LIES — a five-year, ERC-funded project exploring political lying and its impact on democratic citizenship.
Led by Prof. Dr. Maurits Meijers, this project blends quantitative and qualitative methods, including NLP, text analysis, focus groups, and surveys. You’ll investigate how elites use accusations of lying and how these shape democratic trust and participation.
What’s on offer?
- Fully funded 4-year PhD scholarship
- Collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment
- Advanced methods training and conference participation
- Start date: October 15, 2025 (or soon after)
Who should apply?
We're looking for candidates with a Master’s in political science or related fields, strong research skills, and interest in political communication, democratic norms, or public opinion. Experience with quantitative or qualitative research is an asset.
